every kid no matter what wants to please there parents. its in there nature. they want to make there parents happy. when as i stated in my previous journal entry i contracted lyme when i was 11 years old. i sunk into a very deep depression. that to this day im still not totally out of. i felt like i was broken; i was not whole; i was a disappointment. i had gone from being a healthy active 11 year old boy to a very sick 11 year old. children are not going to run up there parents and say "hey i feel like i am broken. like im not pleasing you anymore." it is going to crush them. what was once easy for them will become hard. what you need to do for your kid is keep them active. the more active they are the healthier they will remain. the more they will sleep. the better they will sleep. sleep is incredibly valuable for people suffering from lyme disease. what you dont want is for them to become over active because that could hurt more. try and keep a calmer normal for them. As someone with a loved one dealing with lyme disease be it a child or an adult. what you need to remember is that it effects the person mentally as well as physically. you need to help them realize that they are still whole. they are not broken. much like any major serious disease whats needed is to work on the grieving process. try make them realize that they are not alone in the battle. but others are there to stand by them. what you also need to remember is that every person who deals with lyme disease does not have the same symptoms as you. lyme has over 100 different symptoms. true while most experience some of the same its not all the same. one of my friends was left 90% blind. another only suffers flare ups when sick. me i spend every day cramped and in pain. much of the major effect is mental however. its a mind game. that no matter what you need help with. you can not overcome lyme and regain balance on your own. again im going to highly suggest preventative treatments if you have children and a big yard http://www.mainelyticks.com/ i highly suggest these guys if you live in the northeast region. or seeking other local companies. preventative measures are always the best option. |

Comment: Excellent advice Chris. Your a very wise young man. You will be helping a lot of people who read your blog. The blog counter is broke but I would say by the end of the year perhaps up to 1000+ people will have read this. Sometimes 100+ people a day will read a single newly posted blog. Keep it up. Keep informing people. We need your voice and wisdom to help people who are dealing with sick kids and teens with lyme to better understand what they are going through and what their needs are.
